Primordial soup is what scientists call the hot organic chemicals that were produced around thermal vents at the beginning of life. The chemicals mix to form amino acids and simple sugars that are the building blocks for a cell.
Parents and teachers can download this label and put it on a soup can to be placed on a science shelf. Both Upper Elementary and Middle School students enjoy reading the label. This lesson encourages them to explore the theories behind primordial soup and what the ocean conditions were like over four billion years ago when life began.
Thanks for the label!
